About Me

Hi y’all! I am Amy Decker, and I am from all over the country! I am originally from California, but have lived in Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan, Boston, Washington DC, and finally my boyfriend, Alex, and I have settled into our forever home in Old Town Alexandria, VA. I have loved to bake ever since my mother taught me how to make my first batch of chocolate chip cookies when I was tall enough to reach the counter (not tall enough to see the counter, but to REACH it! Ha). My mother knows her way around a kitchen and was a sensational cook growing up, but I had no interest in cooking, only in baking! And trust me, I loved the sweets, no skinny child left behind in our household!

Since then, I have learned to not only bake, but to cook. It took me until I was late 20's to even learn how to boil a pot of water and now I make multicourse dinners on weeknights and host large dinner parties! I try to keep everything very simple yet elegant so that anyone can do it. We have an open door policy, so many times friends and family will show up on a moments notice on any day of the week. Thankfully, I grew up in a household with an open door policy, so I am always ready to host! The key is to always have meats, cheeses, and some sort of preserve or canned accoutrement on hand!
